What Your Favorite Dog Breed Says About You

We’ve all heard the saying that a person oftentimes looks like their dog, taking on the features of their favorite buddy. But dog owners also often take on the personality of their pup, mimicking their temperament and sharing the same characteristics.

With our favorite breed often comes stereotypes and certain characteristics that many owners hold true. To have a little fun, we’ve come up with a list of some popular dog breeds-so now you can see what your favorite dog breed says about you!

#20. Pitbull

You’re tough on the outside, but a complete marshmallow on the inside. You’re not a pushover and some might even say you have a stubborn streak, but you’re the sweetest, most loving person on the inside – and kind of a goofball when you’re around those who you love best.

#19. Labrador

Labrador owners are as even-tempered as their pets, and it takes some doing to get their temper flared up. They’re also very kind. They’re the type of person whose guest bedroom has the good, faux-fur blankets and a box of chocolates on the nightstand from the local bakery. They’re always loyal to those they love.

#18. Boxer

Boxer owners are often cheerful, confident, and bright, and they light up every room they walk into. They’re super personable too and can turn a simple meeting at the appetizer table to a two-hour-long chat on the couch. They also have an intelligent air to them without being snobby or stuffy about it, making them all the more fun to be around.

#17. Poodle

Owners with poodles often mimic their dogs. They’re elegant in a timeless sort of way, with a certain ingrained suaveness. But that doesn’t mean they’re superficial – they’re also very intelligent and enjoy everything that culture has to offer them, from ballet shows to tongue-in-cheek columns.

#16. Dalmatian

Dalmatian owners are often playful and outgoing, where they love hosting boisterous dinner parties and easily move from circle to circle at cocktail receptions. But that’s not to say they don’t have a quieter, sensitive side – they also have a delicate aspect to them and can’t be jostled.

#15. German Shepard

You are the type of woman that is strong and dependable, and often times acts like a lighthouse that helps to beam people home. Just like your tenacious and focused dog, you know what needs to happen to get the job done, and people can rely on you to take charge and lead the pack. But that’s not to say that they take advantage of you. Because you are like the protector of the family, people are forever loyal to you and are grateful they have someone like you in their corner.

#14. Shiba Inu

You’re not a needy type of person. Instead, you like plenty of space and to have enough room to enjoy your hobbies and pursue your interests. But once that portion of the day is done, you like to curl up with your favorite people and spend quality time with them over a quiet glass of wine or your favorite series.

#13. Bloodhound

Though you’re gentle and affectionate – doing things like making a pie for an afternoon tea with your friend, or buying a little trinket for a loved one because it reminded you of them – that doesn’t mean you’re a pushover. You’re also very stubborn, and become immovable when you really believe in something.

#12. Pug

You might be stubborn and can’t be budged when you have made your mind up, but you’re also incredibly charming and clever, balancing it out.

#11. Cavalier King Charles Spaniel

You might be a bit of a princess, but you like it that way. But just because you’re particular about your luxuries doesn’t mean that’s a personality fault. You’re also very patient with others, where you’re very empathetic, and you’re also fearless, much to the surprise of many. You never think the woman with the Kate Spade bag would be up to go on a wild adventure, but you prove them wrong time and time again.

#10. French Bulldog You’re easy-going and lively, where you like to go with the flow and don’t mind if things don’t go according to plan all the time. Bumps and mistakes are what make life interesting, right? You’re also very keen. That easygoing attitude has made you curious and open-minded about everything.

#9. Great Dane

You’re very dignified, reserved, and patient. You don’t mind taking your time and doing things in their proper way. You like tradition and family and have a matriarch air about you.

#8. Siberian Husky

You’re intelligent and adventurous and often mix the two qualities together. When you go on a trip, you’re all for trying the out-of-the-box cuisines, like goulash in Budapest or cao lâu in Vietnam, but you first want to research to find the most authentic place to get it. You’re a planner, but it’s less Type-A and more intrepid.

#7. Chihuahua

You’re loud and quick, always moving at a hundred miles per hour and the loudest one in the restaurant or party. But your unbeatable energy is part of your charm, and though you’re social and bubbly, you’re also surprisingly courageous. You’re not one to back down from either a challenge or a dare.

#6. Bulldog

You’re a chummy kind of person, where it’s never hard for you to make a friend. Whether you’re waiting for the train and chat up the woman with the great shoes next to you, or always being the one with all the stories at a dinner party, you’re a pleasure to be around.

#5. Border Collie

You’re a “mother hen” type of person, where you love to take care of people and make sure they’re happy. You’re gentle and protective and have a Martha Stewart-like touch when it comes to making people feel welcome and looked after.

#4. Golden Retriever

You’re confident and a born leader, where it feels natural for you to take over a situation and make sure it all goes according to plan. There’s no “I don’t know, what do you want to do?” type of answers from you. Because of that, you’re also very reliable. People turn to you first when they have problems or need help and you love it.

#3. Cockapoo

You’re the outgoing sweetheart of the group. You veer towards being charming and thoughtful and are usually the glue that keeps your friends and family together.

#2. Jack Russell Terrier

You’re an athletic sort of person, the kind who loves to do laps in the pool, work up a sweat running miles during the weekend and enjoys a friendly (but competitive) game of tennis. You’re also a stubborn kind of person, who won’t budge on the things you know you need or want. You’re a strong type of woman that’s sure in herself and isn’t bulldozed easily, just like your Jack Russell Terrier.

#1. Vizsla

Vizsla owners are energetic and quiet, just like their pups. You’re the type of person who thrives off a busy schedule and loves a calendar that’s fully booked – from work meetings in the morning to dinner dates at night, to cooking classes and yoga sessions in between. But you also value your quiet time. You love to get lost in a book or spend an afternoon alone, having some time with your own thoughts.
